Always Another Way Around
If you can’t
add 2+2, take the 2 you can’t add the other 2 to and get rid of it
by subtracting it from 8. This leaves you with 6. Now take
remaining 2, which could not be added to, and divide it into the 6
you were left with after subtracting the unwanted 2 from 8 and you
will arrive at 3. The rest is easy; simply add the 3 arrived at to
1 and you will get the correct answer 4; which of course, you were
looking for in the beginning. A rather long way around but look at
the fun you had, by simply not memorizing it when in grade school.
